About us
The Orthopaedic Centre Münsigen (OZM) was established 13 years ago by Dr. Markus C. Michel and Pierre Witschger in the premises of the former Regional Hospital Münsigen. A market research study which had been ordered by the two of them clearly showed the need and feasibility of such a specialized medical centre. Due to the excellent cooperation with the former hospital director Mr. P. Lüthi and the management of the hospital organisation from the very beginning, the OZM expanded rapidly so that the clinic soon became an indispensable part of the Bernese hospital network (formerly named Regional Hospital Centre RSZ).
In order to safeguard the professional highly qualified orthopaedic care in the hospital in Münsingen, the former director R. Flück submitted the request to the executive board to establish an independent orthopaedic division in the RSZ which should be led by a chief physician for orthopaedics, an objective which finally was achieved in January 2003. Dr. M. C. Michel and Dr. P. Witschger were nominated as the first heads of this new division. The setup of an orthopaedic division in the hospital which today is medically operated by the orthopaedic centre Münsigen – a Swiss limited company - enabled the OZM to train doctors in the specialized field of orthopaedics.
The personnel employed by the OZM consists of medically trained, qualified professionals (female practise assistants, persons with experience in radiography, secretaries, medical doctors) as well as additional external experts (such as technicians, mechanics, computer experts, accountants, management consultants and scientists). Since July 2008 a third person has been entrusted with a seat on the executive board. Today, roughly 15 people are employed by the OZM.
The goal of the OZM team is to provide the best, most effective and advanced orthopeadic health care available.
