Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy Spital Münsingen consists of a team of seven registered physiotherapy professionals and one physiotherapist in training. As physiotherapy professionals, they are specialists for training in human movement in daily living, occupational activities and sports. This requires a cardiovascular system, respiratory system, nervous system and musculoskeletal system that function as well as possible.

As each physiotherapist develops special interests over the course of training, a wide range of treatments is offered.

Inpatient physiotherapy after hip replacement surgery, cruciate ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery, shoulder surgery, hand surgery, etc.

• Respiratory therapy (breathing exercises), metabolic enhancement exercises
• Pain therapy
• Mobilisation of the affected joint
• Fitting of aids and appliances
• Crutch training: Instruction walking and climbing stairs
• Instruction in exercises for improvement of mobility, strength and coordination
• Aqua-walking
• Manual lymph drainage and other measures to reduce swelling, as needed

Inpatient Physiotherapy - Internal Medicine, Gynaecology

• Bobath therapy for stroke patients
• Respiratory therapy for different lung diseases
• Post-infarction therapy
• Gait training
• Fitting of aids and appliances
• Activities of daily living instruction
• Respiratory therapy (breathing exercises), metabolic enhancement exercises, and instruction after different types of gynaecological surgery
• Postpartum exercise

Outpatient physiotherapy (postsurgical and conservative, for back pain, rheumatic complaints, etc.)

• Joint mobilisation
• Stabilisation, coordination and muscle strengthening exercises
• Various manual therapies such as the Sohier method of joint alignment or Maitland method of joint mobilisation
• Manual lymph drainage according to the Vodder/Földi methods, with or without bandaging, as needed
• Ultrasound, electrotherapy, heat applications
• Massage
• Aqua-walking
• Hand therapy
• Rehabilitation exercises (group courses)

Patient Information
Physiotherapy Spital Münsingen treats inpatients and outpatients from our hospital and elsewhere. Treatment is performed as prescribed by the referring physician and in collaboration with the referring physician. If you have a valid referral, the costs of treatment are generally covered by the Swiss basic medical insurance. You also may register on a self-payer basis (for massage or aqua therapy, etc.) You are also welcome to use our services, even if you did not receive surgical or nonsurgical treatment at our hospital.
